Announcing the GSEU

The organizers that have been diligently working towards unionizing the graduate workers would like to proudly announce that we have chosen a name for the future union we have been working towards. As of today, we are the Graduate Student Employee Union or GSEU. While we still have to organize and fight towards legal recognition, we currently have over 1/4 of all graduate workers signed up to join this future union. With our goal of 2/3 of all graduate workers signed, we still need all the help we can get to continue our fight.

If you haven’t signed a union authorization card and would like to or if you would like to contribute to organizing, please reach out to me directly via email. No matter how little time you have to contribute, we can find a way for you to help! If you live on campus, off campus, in Chicago, or even in another state, we have many options to make sure you have the opportunity to sign an authorization card. All graduate assistants are eligible to join! This includes graduate workers from other countries. You have the same rights as all workers in the US.  By joining, you help your union reach the majority it needs to win legal recognition and fight for the legal protections we all deserve. Our collective group of grad workers can’t win without you!
